Meursault | Flittin’

It’s about time I remind myself that All Creatures Will Make Merry hit my top 10 albums of last year, though it went criminally underrepresented among the blogging crowd - oh well. There’s a few albums every year that persist on despite their relative obscurity, even with those who oughtta be in the know.

Fellow blogger Slowcoustic, however, has the idea. In a recent post he highlighted two live, intimate video recordings of Meursault’s upcoming album that instill a deep, deep confidence in the band’s next outing. Flittin’ shows that the lo-fi, acoustic Scottish song-poets have stayed in familiar territory with their new outing - namely the heart-wrenching, deeply moving tracks they’ve been known for. Check it out above, along with another video for Settling over at Slowcoustic.

pretty listening. it was raining sideways or was it snow. a combination. and there he was with a huge smile on his face. a quick tour of the humble (his word not mine) ex.fm office space and off we went in search of a tea shop. a pot of oolong shared with two plates: a scone and a brownie - we couldn’t decide. talk about new york, tech, music. the usual first meeting agenda. and a guess what for good measure. what? my wife is pregnant. wow, congratulations! and with that, kirk went from a tumblr friend to friend in real life to dear friend. grateful.
